Wood, signed to a two-year, $20.5 million contract as Cleveland's closer, allowed one hit in his second spring outing.

"I felt good, strong," said Wood, who was sidelined early in camp by a sore back. "I threw fastballs, one curve and two sliders, but no cutters. The inning before was a long one, so I threw about 50 pitches in the bullpen and got plenty of work."

Wood, who made 12 trips to the disabled list in 10 years with the Chicago Cubs, said his back is not an issue and he anticipates being ready for the season opener.

Milwaukee manager Ken Macha was impressed by McGehee, but not as much with pitchers Seth McClung and Todd Coffey.

"McGehee keeps making a statement," Macha said of the 26-year-old McGehee, hitting .400 with three homers and seven RBIs. "That homer was to the opposite field and the left fielder didn't move. How often do you see that? It was ripped.

"The big thing to me is how Casey has played at third base and second. He can catch a little, too. That gives him a shot at making this team."

McClung was not happy with Shoppach's enthusiastic reaction to going deep.

"He hit a spring-training homer so good for him," McClung said. "I'll remember the bat toss. I get excited sometimes, too. I guess he's known for that, but come on."

Macha noted that McClung threw more than 60 pitches over three innings, allowing four hits and two runs.

"His velocity was good, but he had trouble putting hitters away," Macha said. "He just threw too many pitches.

"Coffey, too. He didn't trust his fastball enough."

Coffey struck out three, but gave up two hits and one run over two innings.

Scott Lewis, one of five lefties seeking the fifth spot in Cleveland's rotation, allowed three hits and one run over the first four innings.

"He's been good all spring at spotting his fastball and changing speeds," manager Eric Wedge said. "He's picked up right where he left off last season."

Lewis went 4-0 with a 2.63 ERA in his first four big league starts in September.

Grady Sizemore tripled with one out in the Indians' third and scored on a single by Jamey Carroll. Sizemore showed no effects of the groin injury that sidelined him a week earlier in camp despite having to speed up after going into his home-run trot.

"I thought it was out," Sizemore said of the ball that caromed off the right-field wall. "I ran it out. I felt fine."

Former Indians outfielder Trot Nixon had a two-out RBI double off Lewis in the fourth.

"My back feels the best it has in years," said the 34-year-old Nixon, who played 99 games for Cleveland in 2007 and spent most of last season in Arizona's farm system before getting into 11 games with the New York Mets.

Notes: Indians RHP Adam Miller will have his right middle finger examined Monday by a specialist. He had surgery on the finger in May. Wedge said this setback knocks Miller out of a chance at gaining a spot in the big-league bullpen. ... Cleveland reassigned RHP Tomo Ohka and LHP Ryan Edell to the minor-league camp and optioned LHP Rich Rundles to Triple-A Columbus. ... Milwaukee optioned six RHPs to the minors, including Tim Dillard and Nick Green to Triple-A Nashville.
