Cleveland Indians Inside Pitch 2009-04-30
The Indians had a scheduled off day Thursday, which gave them time to regroup following a 4-5 homestand. The team begins a seven-game trip to Detroit, Toronto and Boston on Friday, with the roster in need of some adjustments.

Cleveland finished the homestand Wednesday with a 14-man pitching staff and a two-man bench. The odd roster makeup was due to a combination of designated hitter Travis Hafner being placed on the disabled list and the addition of a ninth reliever, recalled to help an overworked bullpen.

The Indians are expected to make a roster move, maybe even more than one, before Friday's game in Detroit. The club is expected to option left-hander Rich Rundles to Class AAA Columbus.

A position player will be added, the most likely candidate being outfielder David Dellucci, who has been on the disabled list since the start of the season because of a strained left calf. Dellucci is on a rehab assignment at Columbus, where he is hitting .414 (12-for-29) through seven games.

It's possible the Indians could call up another position player as well. Manager Eric Wedge said team officials are "looking at everything" with regard to potential roster moves. That includes outfielder Matt LaPorta, who is off to a tremendous start at Columbus (.352, five homers, 14 RBIs in 20 games).
