Cleveland Indians Inside Pitch 2008-08-04
The Indians didn't do much hitting Sunday in a 6-2 loss to Minnesota. But it was the Indians' starting pitcher that may have been cause for the most concern.

Veteran right-hander Matt Ginter gave up five runs in six innings in taking the loss. In his last three starts, Ginter is 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA.

Ginter is basically taking the spot of left-hander Aaron Laffey in the rotation. Laffey was demoted to Class AAA Buffalo to work on some things after he went through an ugly mid-season slump.

Laffey will probably remain in Buffalo for the time being, but with Ginter struggling in the majors the Indians may consider making a roster move to bolster that spot in the rotation.

There is no shortage of candidates at Buffalo. Veterans John Halama, Anthony Reyes, Jeff Weaver, and Bryan Bullington are all in the rotation at Buffalo, and pitching with varying degrees of success.

TWINS 6, INDIANS 2: Matt Ginter gave up five runs in six innings to take the loss, dropping his record to 1-3. The Indians' only runs came on an RBI double by Grady Sizemore in the seventh inning and a solo home run by Ben Francisco in the eighth.
