--The Indians used a season-high eight pitchers Sunday, including starter LHP Jeremy Sowers, who was removed from the game after throwing 75 pitches in the first three innings.
--OF Grady Sizemore was in an 0-for-25 slide prior to the series with Kansas City, but he hit .529 (9-for-17) in the four-game set. --RHP Fausto Carmona, whose season was interrupted by a two-month stay on the disabled list caused by a strained hip, is 8-7 with a 5.16 ERA. A year ago at this time, Carmona was 16-8 with a 3.20 ERA. In his last 11 starts, dating to May 23, Carmona is 4-6 with an 8.01 ERA, and more walks than strikeouts. "Fausto this year is a little like Cliff (Lee) was last year," said Manager Eric Wedge. "Last year Cliff (who started the season on the disabled list) never seemed to be able to catch up. Fausto is going through that this year. We see a little progress from time to time, but it's tough to work on things when you're trying to compete."
--1B Ryan Garko's home run Saturday was his first since Aug. 19, a span of 81 plate appearances and 68 at-bats.
--The Indians are 9-52 (.148) when scoring three runs or fewer and 63-25 (.716) when scoring four or more runs.
