--DH Travis Hafner hit .122 (5-for-41) in 11 games after coming off the DL, where he spent three months because of a strained right shoulder. Hafner finished the season with a .197 batting average.
--SS Jhonny Peralta hit his 23rd home run in the final game of the season, leaving him one shy of his career high, set in 2005. Peralta this year became the 12th shortstop in major league history to have 40 doubles and 20 home runs in the same season.
--1B Ryan Garko, who hit .384 with 20 RBI in September, finished the season tied with CF Grady Sizemore for the team lead with 90 RBI.
--RHP Rafael Betancourt, the Indians' best reliever last year, struggled for most of this season but managed to finish on a positive note. In his last 22 appearances (since Aug. 13), Betancourt had a 2.66 ERA.
--At 81-81, the Indians finished 15 games below last year, when they won 96 games and the Central Division title. The Indians were 44-28 after July 10.
--LHP Cliff Lee did not make his scheduled start in the last game of the season because of a stiff neck. Lee finished with a record of 22-3, the second-highest win total by a left-handed pitcher in club history. Vean Gregg holds the club record for wins by a left-hander. He was 23-7 in 1911. Lee's three losses are the fewest for any Indians 20-game winner. After the season, he was voted the American League Comeback Player of the Year.
--The Indians led the majors in runs scored in the second half with 379. That's nine more than Detroit, which is second in the majors in runs scored with 370.
--CF Grady Sizemore was the only player in the American League with 30 doubles, 30 home runs, and 30 stolen bases this season.
BY THE NUMBERS: 101 -- Number of times the Indians were hit by pitches in 2008. That breaks the previous major league record of 100 set by the 1997 Houston Astros.
