--SS Jhonny Peralta began the 2009 season needing one home run to pass Woodie Held for the Indians' record for most career home runs by a shortstop. Peralta began the season tied with Held with 85 career home runs.
--RHP Joe Smith, acquired from the Mets as part of a three-way trade during the offseason, was one of the Indians' most impressive relievers in spring training, posting a 2.08 ERA in eight appearances, with 15 strikeouts and one walk in 8 2/3 innings. --OF David Dellucci began the season on the disabled list because of a strained left calf. He was replaced on the roster by rookie OF Trevor Crowe, who hit .310 and led the Indians with seven stolen bases in the spring.
--LHP Scott Lewis, the Indians' No. 4 starter who will start the home opener Friday against Toronto, made his final spring start on Sunday with the Indians' extended spring training program in Goodyear, Ariz.
--RHP Anthony Reyes, the Indians' No. 5 starter, whose first regular season start won't come until April 12, will make a final tuneup start Tuesday, pitching for the Indians' high Class-A Kinston (N.C.) affiliate against Mount Olive College.
BY THE NUMBERS: 47 -- Number of runs by which the Indians were out-scored (230-183), in going 12-20, with three ties, in spring training.
