--Trailing 2-1, the Indians scored four runs in the eighth inning Thursday to beat Kansas City 5-2. Before that win the Indians were 0-8 in games they were trailing after the sixth inning.

--LHP Jeremy Sowers, who failed in his bid to win a spot in the rotation during spring training, is off to a solid start at Class AAA Columbus. In his first two starts, Sowers is 0-1 but with a 1.64 ERA, with 12 strikeouts and two walks in 11 innings.

--LHP Aaron Laffey on Tuesday night became the first pitcher in 39 years to get the opposing team to ground into double plays in five consecutive innings. The last pitcher to do that was Detroit's Les Cain, vs. Minnesota, on May 6, 1970. The Indians turned six double plays in Tuesday's game, equaling the club record and major league record.

BY THE NUMBERS: 8 -- Extra-base hits the Indians had, a major league record, in the second inning April 18. They scored 14 runs in the inning and won 22-4.
