--RHP Masa Kobayashi, who had an 8.38 ERA in 10 appearances, was outrighted to Class AAA Columbus. Kobayashi, in the second year of a two-year $6.25 million contract, had to give his permission for the demotion, which he did. Kobayashi was taken off the roster to make room for LHP David Huff, who was recalled from Class AAA Columbus and made his major league debut Sunday in a start vs. Tampa Bay. Huff replaces the demoted LHP Jeremy Sowers in the starting rotation.
--DH Travis Hafner went 1-for-8 in his first two starts at Class AAA Columbus on a rehab assignment. Hafner has been on the disabled list since April 29 with a sore right shoulder. --C Victor Martinez went into Sunday's game hitting an American League-leading .409. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, no Indians players has had a batting average that high with at least 149 at bats since Tito Francona was hitting .410 in his first 234 at bats in 1959. Martinez went 0-for-3 Sunday to drop his average to .401.
