Cleveland Indians Notes, Quotes 2008-05-27
--RHP Scott Elarton, who gave up three runs in the 12th inning of Monday night's loss, was making his first major league relief appearance since Sept. 6, 2003, as a member of the Colorado Rockies.

--SS Jhonny Peralta's home run was his 10th, the most of any shortstop in the league.

--DH Travis Hafner, hitting .189 in his last 33 games and .217 overall, was replaced at DH by OF David Dellucci. "I wanted to give him a break," said manager Eric Wedge. "He's grinding, trying to fight through this."

--LHP Aaron Laffey's 1.60 ERA since April 17 is the lowest in the American League. Laffey's ERA would rank second in the AL to LHP Cliff Lee overall, but Laffey is 15 innings short of qualifying for the ERA lead.

--2B Asdrubal Cabrera is hitting .123 in his last 21 games, since April 27.

BY THE NUMBERS: .202 -- The Indians' team batting average during a seven-game losing streak that was finally snapped with a 5-2 win over Texas on May 24.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I'm sick and tired of us giving away at bats like we're doing. If they've got to be mad at me, so be it. But I'm tired of seeing the same thing day after day." -- Manager Eric Wedge, after the Indians lost seven games in a row, hitting .202 and scoring just 22 runs during the streak.
