--LHP Jeremy Sowers gave up a grand slam to the White Sox's Nick Swisher in the third inning. It's the eighth grand slam allowed by Indians pitchers this season, one shy of the club record.
--RHP Scott Elarton was placed on the restricted list due to undisclosed personal reasons. To replace Elarton on the roster, RHP Tom Mastny was recalled from Class AAA Buffalo. --OF Trevor Crowe was selected the Player of the Week in the Eastern League for the second consecutive week after hitting .464 with two home runs and 10 RBIs in seven games with Class AA Akron last week. In his last 11 games, Crowe is hitting .522 with 11 extra base hits and 18 RBIs.
--OF Grady Sizemore has 97 career homers and 98 career stolen bases. He needs three more homers and two more stolen bases to join Joe Carter as the only players to have 100 homers and 100 stolen bases with the Indians. Carter, who played for the Indians from 1984-89, had 151 home runs and 126 stolen bases.
--3B Casey Blake is hitting an AL-leading .333 on the road, and he's second in the league with a .412 batting average with runners in scoring position.
BY THE NUMBERS: 36 -- Years since Indians starting pitchers had struck out 10 or more batters in consecutive games before LHP Cliff Lee and LHP C.C. Sabathia did it on June 27-28. The last time it had been done by Indians pitchers was by Gaylord Perry and Dick Tidrow in July 1972.
