--RHP Fausto Carmona's win was his first since May 12. Carmona pitched into the seventh inning to improve his record to 5-3, in his second start since coming off the disabled list, where he'd been for two months because of a strained hip.
--OF Grady Sizemore made his fourth start as a designated hitter. Sizemore says he is still trying to figure out how to occupy his time between at-bats as a DH. "My routine is so crazy I don't even want to get into it," he said. --After playing seven consecutive errorless games, the Indians, who lead the league in fielding percentage, have made seven errors in the past two games.
--C Kelly Shoppach's five extra-base hits -- three doubles and two homers -- Wednesday made him the first catcher since 1900, and just the sixth player overall, to have five extra-base hits in one game.
--LHP Jeremy Sowers, who will start Friday against the Twins in the Metrodome, is 1-1 with a 2.90 ERA in four career starts vs. Minnesota.
