--RHP Brendan Donnelly's contract was purchased from Class AAA Buffalo. In six appearances at Buffalo, Donnelly was 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA. He has not pitched in the majors since undergoing Tommy John surgery on Aug. 14, 2007.
--RHP Anthony Reyes, acquired recently in a minor league trade with St. Louis, was recalled from Class AAA Buffalo and will make his first start for the Indians on Friday in Toronto. In two starts for Buffalo, Reyes was 2-0 with a 2.77 ERA. --SS Jhonny Peralta had five hits Wednesday, equaling his career high set June 30 against the White Sox.
--1B Ryan Garko was removed from Wednesday's game by manager Eric Wedge in the second inning after Garko failed to run to first base after hitting a slow tapper down the first base line.
--2B Asdrubal Cabrera left Wednesday's game in the sixth inning with a sprained left ankle. Cabrera suffered the injury when he stumbled and fell while taking the field in the bottom of the sixth inning. He is listed as day-to-day.
--RHP Tom Mastny, who allowed four runs in one-third of an inning on Saturday, was sent down to Class AAA Buffalo, and RHP Matt Ginter (right forearm) was placed on the disabled list. Mastny posted a 10.80 ERA in nine games (one start) with the Indians. Ginter was 1-3 with a 5.14 ERA in four starts for Cleveland.
BY THE NUMBERS: 30 -- Consecutive hitters LHP Jeremy Sowers retired in the first five innings of his last two starts through Aug. 3. Sowers pitched five perfect innings in both of those starts, but he didn't get a win in either game.
