It's only early May. And it's comforting to remember that they play in one of Baseball's weaker divisions. Nevertheless, it's not too early to worry (a lot) about the Indians .

If May resembles April, the 2009 Baseball season could be shot by the time the Yankees come to town on May 29. Entering last night's game in Detroit, the Indians were the doormat of the American League Central Division.

More troubling than the team's losing record - and largely responsible for it - has been the dismal pitching, especially out of the bullpen.

The economic recession has already hit ticket sales hard. If the pitching doesn't get fixed in a hurry, Progressive Field will have more empty seats this season than at any time since the ballpark opened in 1994.

And fans will be resigned to waiting yet another year for what has eluded them for the last 61.
