Choo was examined by the Indians medical staff at the team's spring training complex after complaining of a sore left triceps a week ago while playing for South Korea.

"He had a full examination, and all went well," Indians general manager Mark Shapiro said. "We had an uneasy feeling with him on a different continent. We had asked him to be completely honest with us when he left, and he was. He said he was sore, but now it is all gone."

Choo had ligament transplant surgery in his left elbow in 2007 and the Indians were concerned that his aches may have been related.

"With our attention to detail in this organization regarding medical issues, there is no way he would be going back to the WBC if there was anything to be concerned about," Shapiro said.

Choo, expected to be Cleveland's regular right fielder this season, did not play Monday in South Korea's 1-0 win over defending champion Japan. He went 1-for-7 with a walk and scored three runs in previous games.

Cleveland and South Korea agreed before the tournament that Choo would sit out one game in each round. It also was stipulated that he could play the outfield only once in the first round. In the second round, he can appear in the outfield in two games but the appearances must not be consecutive.

Choo opened last season on the disabled list. He rejoined the Indians on May 31 and hit .309 with 14 homers and 66 RBIs in 94 games.
