KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - The Cleveland Indians have recalled left-hander Aaron Laffey from Triple-A Columbus on his 24th birthday to start Wednesday's series finale at Kansas City.
Laffey is starting in place of Scott Lewis, who strained his elbow on opening day and is on the 15-day disabled list.To make room for Laffey, the Indians optioned infielder Josh Barfield to Triple-A.
Laffey went 5-7 in 16 starts last season for the Indians, who are off to a 1-7 start. He was beaten out for a job in the starting rotation this spring by Lewis.
