Some interesting Yankee Stadium attendance numbers
May 2, 2009 (Newsday delivered by Newstex ) --

Remember those days when a scalper was your only way into Yankee Stadium?

Since the new stadium opened, there hasn't been an official sellout, and the stadium (capacity 51,800) has been over 90 percent full only once, on Opening Day against the Indians. Of course, teams like the Kansas City Royals and Florida Marlins would be thrilled to average half of what the Yankees are drawing.

But doesn't it tick you off when almost every action picture you see from a Yankee game is lined with empty seats?

The 2009 Yankee Stadium attendance numbers:

April 16 Indians 48,271 (92.4%)April 17 Indians 45,101 (86.3%)April 18 Indians 45,167 (85.6%)April 19 Indians 43,068 (82.5 %)April 21 A's 42,065 (80.5%)April 22 A's 43,342 (83 %)April 30 Angels 43,388) (83.1 %)May 1 Angels 44,058 (84.3%)(numbers taken from boxscores on espn.com)
